Computer Literacy and Entrepreneur Program

The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis as part of its 4 for the Future program, sponsors a Computer Literacy and Entrepreneur Program designed to better educate high school students on the appropriate use of a personal computer for business. The benefit of being apart of this computer literacy and entrepreneur program is the training and a free computer.


The intense training will cover the following topics:

Students will learn how to identify computer components such as CPU, memory, hard disk, CD-ROM’s, power supplies, flash memory sticks, etc.

Students will learn how to use a word processor and learn how to design spreadsheets and databases as well as presentations software. They will also learn some Internet web development.

Students will have to create a fictitious company and use the software tools for a business plan. While learning about word processing, the students will also have to discuss and generate documents related to company policies, terminations, hiring practices, dress codes, etc. Finally the students will have to present their companies at the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis general body meeting.


Parents of high school students who are interested can apply on line (www.100bmstl.org), in person at our office 4631 Delmar St. Louis, Missouri 63108 or call (314) 367-7778. Applications are being accepted between 4/1/2008 and 5/31/2008. Accepted students will be notified by 6/6/2008.


Only a few seats are available. Students are required to attend 100% of the schedule dates in order to receive the free computer. The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis welcome all St. Louis area high school students to apply. There is an essay section on the application. Only the serious should apply.

6/21/2008 Word processing and generate company documents

6/27/2008 Spreadsheets and generate financial spreadsheets for the company

6/28/2008 Databases and generate databases for your company's customers.

7/5/2008 Off

7/11/2008 Presentation software and generate a presentation for your company

7/12/2008 HTML design and generate web pages for your company

7/18/2008 Put all of the pieces together and rehearse presentation

7/19/2008 Graduation and presentation of computers and awards.
